@@Nantou City Household Registration Office was originally belonged to Household Registration Section of Nantou Township. The Central Government decided that, in order to achieve more rigorous household registration management during the “Period of National Mobilization for the Suppression of Communist Rebellion,” and in line with the needs of public order, “Household Registration Law and its Implementation Regulations” was promulgated by the letter of Executive Yuan, No. Tai-58-Nei 3899 on May 15, 1969. The integration of household registration affairs with the police operations was implemented on a trial basis from July 1, 1969 to March 31, 1973. The Household Registration Section formally under Township Office was cancelled and then set up Nantou Township Household Registration Office. The original house registration staff from the Household Registration Section was enrolled under Household Registration Office. The supervisor was the acting director; the vice director of police station was the acting vice director. The personnel were managed by the County Police Department and the household registration affairs were also inspected and overseen by the county police station. The budget was still supported by the budget of Township Office.
@@Following the revision of “Household Registration Law and its Implementation Regulations” amended by Executive Yuan on March 12, 1973, the responsibility for household registration affairs was formally transferred from the Civil Affairs authority to the police agencies. The supervisor of township, also the acting director, was cancelled; the vice director of police department was in charge and the household registration officers were enrolled into the staff of police agencies. The Household Registration Law was amended and promulgated on July 17, 1973. The Household Registration Sections under the District Offices were organized as Household Registries, under Nantou County Police Department on December 25, 1981.
@@Following the end of “Period of National Mobilization for the Suppression of Communist Rebellion” on May 1, 1991, and in accordance with actual needs, on June 29, 1992, Household Registration Law was issued, detailing the establishment of Household Registration Office in each township, and has been under the Nantou County Government since July 1, 1992.
